Arawn Welsh Black Metal

Review: Arawn | Welsh Black Metal

Welsh Black Metal proves to be the second demo from one man Black Metal project Arawn, the brainchild of Welsh multi-instrumentalist Bleiddwn-y-Nos. Fresh from a split with now defunct Thrash act Sycorax, the young individual gave birth to Arawn during the latter months of 2006 at the tender age of seventeen. Arawn's inaugural demo Call of the Cyhyraeth saw the light of day in March 2007, and less than a four months later comes its follow up Welsh Black Metal...

Darkwater 1920

Review: Darkwater | 1920

“1920” is the sophomore single from Scottish Electro Rock act Darkwater, given a lending hand by a guesting mix from none other than Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian. Released via Up Next Records, it's the follow up to debut double A-side “Alone And” / “Easy Weakness” which saw issue in May. The group have headlined their own Dutch tour, toured Eastern Europe with Dog Eat Dog, played Skye Festival with Primal Scream and garnered high profile support slots with acts like Wolfmother, The Damned and Hayseed Dixie. Jägermeister recently inked a deal for sponsorship, and now the group are scheduled to headline both the White Air Extreme sport festival on the Isle of Wight on September 1st and The London Edge Alternative Fashion Festival in Olympia on September 2nd...

Iced Earth Overture

Review: Iced Earth | Overture of the Wicked

Overture of the Wicked forms the initial glimpse of an ambitious mammoth double album concept culled from the imagination of Iced Earth mainman Jon Schaffer. The EP's origins can be traced back as far as the group's 1998 full length effort Something Wicked This Way Comes, where three of the four tracks on offer here appeared in their original guise. “Prophecy”, “Birth of the Wicked” and “The Coming Curse” collectively form the Something Wicked trilogy, a storyline concept which'll be significantly expanded upon courtesy of the aforementioned double disc installment. For those of you keen to know the gory details, feel free to read onwards. The first chapter, Framing Armageddon, sees the light of day in September 2007. Its as yet untitled successor, on the other hand, is projected for issuing in early 2008. Schaffer's Soaring Eagle Sound studio played host to the recording of this EP and both studio efforts, while mastering and mixing duties were handled by Jim Morris at Morrisound...

The Fluffy Jackets Demo

Review: The Fluffy Jackets | Demo

This three track debut demo offering bursts forth from none other than The Fluffy Jackets. Heard the name? Does it ring any bells? Thought not. It's certainly possible though that a slice of fortune sprinkled with talent may pluck this unknown group from obscurity into the realms of the alternative rock scene. Let's be the nice guy and inform you of this group's informal beginnings...
